Concordia's delegationsIntroducing Concordia's regional delegations

Previous page

Aquitaine

Once again this year, you are welcome to join us in one of our beautiful region’s departments with a multitude of landscapes, “terroirs” and flavors… alongside a regional delegation which is diversifying its actions and activities: international work camps, hosting of volunteers for long term projects in Concordia’s house, introduction to various manual activities and volunteering, work in a school setting about dealing with the ecological footprint or responsible consumption (fair trade products available), cross-border and interregional development actions, volunteers sent around Europe, work with socio-educational organizations, collection of used hand-tools which are restored in our workshops before being sent to Benin... In brief, it deals with a multitude of projects that take on a meaning because they are planned according to local needs and above all because they are carried out by motivated and motivating volunteers.

One golden rule for these activities: facilitate mobility and foster active and participative citizenship.

We hope many of you will come and support these projects devoted to meeting new people, the exchange of ideas and learning experiences of all types with us.

Auvergne

Established in Clermont-Ferrand since 1983, the delegation works throughout the Auvergne and sometimes reaches across the regional boundaries to organize work camps in the Limousin or (in the) Centre regions.

Almost twenty work camps are organized each year on various themes, ranging from built heritage restoration, to environmental education via artistic work in hospital environments.

Each of our actions highlights the important role of the organizations, associations, young local people....and more generally those who want to get involved in the implementation of a collective and intercultural project.

The regional delegation participates in projects for “long-term” volunteers within the framework of European or national structures (European Voluntary Service, Voluntary Civil Service, Non-profit Volunteering. Maybe you will come across one of them at a work camp or in a charity meeting…and he or she might make you feel like doing something similar, in France or elsewhere...

Whether it’s a work camp or long-term volunteering you’re interested in, do get in touch – we’re here to help you plan your project.

Brittany

From its fine sandy shores, overhung by indestructible granite cliffs where the ancient Atlantic Ocean watches over the Morbihan countryside and its farming traditions(…) , through the mythical forest of Brocéliande or perhaps ducal cities with glorious histories, come and visit Brittany! Land of legend and nature with a strong heritage, Brittany is above all a land at the end of the earth where the people are open to others – the context is truly unique. This year, for the first time, Concordia invites you to take part in the protection and development of these invaluable resources where links with the local people will be central to the project. Come and visit one the most beautiful regions in France and work with us to bring Concordia’s aims to life!

Ile de France

Located in the north of Paris, the Ile-de-France delegation was founded in January 2007 with the aim of promoting volunteering in urban or peri-urban areas. From the teeming cultural activity of the big Parisian suburbs to the beautiful landscapes of the villages in the area which appealed to the major impressionists, Ile-de-France will surprise you with its diversity and dynamism. It is in this context that you will contribute to the creation of local structures intended to welcome and promote educational, artistic or sport volunteer work. Convinced as you are that intercultural relations generate solidarity, you will implement and take part, besides manual work, in cultural activities in order to build relationships with the local populations and make the work camp part of local and sustainable development.

Normandy-Maine

For 14 years now, our delegation has developed projects from the provinces of Maine (Sarthe and Mayenne) to the Normandy coast (Orne, Calvados and Manche). Located at the heart of the enclosed farmland, we have exceptional pastoral landscapes such as those of the Suisse Normande and Alps Mancelles areas. Here, the natural and built heritage is as important as human beings. This area has developed all 5 senses, so you can taste the cider, smell the freshly-cut maize, see protected birds, hear the whispers of the sea or touch the rock of its ancient monuments. The delegation has chosen to focus its actions on local development, trying thus to curb rural-urban migration by developing heritage resources. From the local initiative work camps, to promoting the integration of young local people in International Work Camps, there’s a place for you somewhere in our region, because for as far as we are concerned, remaining locally anchored is the priority. Concordia Normandy-Maine operates not only in summer but all year round.

Picardy - Nord Pas de Calais

The north of France? It is a beautiful cultural and natural environment which is worth getting to know! From the Manche to the Belgian border, the North opens up to people who take time to discover its numerous territories. Along with the very beautiful landscapes, you will discover the excellent hospitality of its inhabitants. During your spare time, you might go for a walk in the countryside or at the seaside - just like Victor Hugo or Jules Verne did –or even savor the most delicious regional products in addition to the international dishes prepared on the work camps!!! This year, we will be organizing many work camps on various themes such as the environment or the restoration of built heritage. Sites which deserve to be preserved or developed for everybody’s enjoyment and which are ready to welcome you. For 12 years, the delegation has been located at the heart of Santerre in Roye and it also offers other projects to volunteers such as long-term volunteering in France or abroad and work camp weekends organized throughout the year. Contact us to get involved in Concordia’s projects! - Thus, with the vital support of Picard local government (regional and departmental councils), the regional youth and sports agency or the coastal protection agency, Concordia keeps on developing many projects. Additionally, in September it will be organizing the 10th anniversary of the Avricourt work camp. So, as the old Picard saying goes: « A tertous on ne s’ra mis d’trop », the more the merrier!

Rhone Alps

From the mythical peaks of the Alps to the fertile plains of the Rhone valley and through the hilly lands of Ain, the idea of a work camp wends its way. The Rhone-Alps delegation is located in Lyon. The environmental work camps which are planned there mainly aim to protect or create streams beds, footpaths popular with walkers or protect heritage in order to breathe new life into bread ovens, wash houses and very small chapels which are the pride of local people keen on keeping their roots. If you are eager for exchanges with villagers, wide open space and wild nature, if you want to contribute to the protection of this whole natural and cultural heritage, Rhone-Alps villages are ready to welcome you. Do make the most of their specificities and share your interests with them. We wish you a summer filled with encounters and as invigorating as a torrent of water.

South South West

Founded in 1981, the South South-West delegation (Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrenees regions) will welcome you again this summer to its international work camps. Places and things to discover: the seaside resorts, the Cathar sites, the Cevennes and Haut-Languedoc regional parks, the gorges of the Tarn, the plain of Toulouse, the famous city of Carcassonne, the Aubrac cheeses, the local country wines or the gastronomic Quercy. This is a beautifully sunny region with endearing accents…The delegation strives for the diversification of its activities to enable a wider public to come to work camps, share a project and experience team work. The region offers a wide range of activities, thriving community work, a traditional culture and welcoming people…Come and spend a summer “In the Occitan sun”!!!
