Projet : ELIX, Conservation Volunteers Greece, is a non-governmental not-for-profit organization promoting voluntary service and education, since 1987. It is based in Athens. The main value of ELIX is the personal development of individuals as citizens of the world, through active participation in projects for the common good. ELIX organizes international voluntary projects for the protection of the environment, conservation of the cultural heritage projects, as well as social service projects. At the moment in the office consists of 4 member staff (Elena-Project Manager, Mina- Volunteers Coordinator, Dora- communication Responsible and Georgia- financial Responsible )
Travail : ELIX sends about 200 volunteers abroad over a year and receives about 330 volunteers in our workcamps in Greece. March to July is a very busy period and that is why we need assistance.
We look for a volunteer who is about to assist mainly the Outgoing and Incoming placement for the first months of the season(Mid Feb-Mid May). The volunteer would be based at the ELIX office working together with the four-member staff. The volunteer would work from Monday to Friday for 5-7 hours depending at the needs of each period. The volunteer might assist occasionally events and activities during the weekends. Time will be given off in lieu if this is the case. The work will vary depending on needs running but will focus mainly on the following:

• dealing with incoming and outgoing placements - contacting partner organisations and volunteers by e-mail, fax, phone and letter
• dealing with telephone enquiries
• dealing with general enquiries (letter and emails)
• helping out with camp leading training and volunteer preparation
• Assisting the preparation of the international programmes (workcamps and other European programmes hosted by ELIX)
• general administrative work

The holidays are 2 days per month plus the national or religious holidays (25/03, 2/04, 5/04, 01/05)

Situation : Athens
Hébergement : The volunteers will be lodged (in a room probably not shared) in the flat of ELIX EVS volunteers. It is 1 min distance by trolley form the center and ELIX office and 20’-25’min on foot.
Infos supplémentaires : The volunteer will be given a monthly allowance of 70 EUROS and a montly transport card, 35 EUROS

Applicant requirements:

• Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English even in pressured situations.
• Aged 20+
• Competence to use a computer and especially MS office (Word,excel)
• Previous volunteer project experience(preferably)
• Organisational & good communication skills together with flexibility
• Confident and independent nature
• Sense of humour
